These pre-historic fish are one of my favorites. Maybe it's because they are so rare. They look like a crappie, but can range from 8-30 lbs on any given hook up. My average Triple Tail taken is between 15-18 lbs. My biggest is 35.8 pounds which made number 3 in the state! Customers have caught them 20 lbs plus. October is generally the month to get them, September being the second best. These fish love to hang around rigs, pilings, or anything floating on the surface. They are extremely powerful and may even jump out of the water several times before finally landing them. They make excellent table fare!
